As I’ve begun to slow down my writing, I’ve enjoyed stepping back into creating of other sorts. I figured it would be a good thing to show you what that looks like, so I plan to do a quarterly creation share with you!
Storytelling is still at the heart of everything I do, but sometimes the story shows up in different forms—paint on a canvas, fabric into a quilt, ingredients into something delicious in the kitchen, or another creative project that simply looked too interesting not to try.
I’ve always loved making things with my hands. There’s something satisfying about starting with a simple idea and slowly watching it take shape, one step at a time. In some ways it reminds me a lot of writing a novel—piece by piece, layer by layer, until suddenly there’s something real where there used to be only an idea.
Below you'll find some images of what's been occupying me over the last while, plus one from Nic, my friend and assistant!
Sometimes these projects turn out exactly how I imagined. Sometimes they wander off in their own direction. Either way, the process itself is half the fun.
