She was growing tired and ready to take a break when a young man marched up to her and demanded a dance. Jessi smiled at him, she’d seen him on the floor with some of the teenage girls and wondered if some of his buddies had put him up to asking her. Then she sniffed.

“Holy shit!” She covered her mouth for a second and watched as he laughed at her reaction. “Sorry, yes, I’ll dance with you.” His scent was an almost exact match to Tyler’s, but physically he looked completely different. Dark black hair to his shoulders, deep green eyes. He was taller than she was and as he swung her around the floor he showed he knew a little about dancing. And holding a female.

“I have to assume you’re related to Tyler.” Jessi glanced over at her mate. She was getting used to the idea, after all the affirmation she’d received tonight that Tyler was serious about them being mates. He watched them with an intent stare, tinged with annoyance. She wondered why.

“Yeah, we don’t look alike, but we’re full blood kin. Are you pregnant?”

Out of the mouth of babes…

“I beg your pardon?” Jessi tried to look intimidating but the boy simply pulled her closer as he swung her past where Tyler now brooded.

“Usually the bitch is pregnant before an Alpha claims her as a mate, it’s one proof that the matebond is real, so I figured he must have knocked you up or something…”

Jessi was shocked for a second and then realized this puppy was trying to push her buttons. Teenagers, shit.

“What’s your name and age?” Jessi pressed against his body in a more intimate manner, making sure it looked like he was the one pulling her closer. She felt him hesitate. Now it was the youth that checked out Tyler’s reaction. He must have seen something that frightened him because he tried to relax his grip on her, but she casually held him in place. She was stronger than he’d expected and she felt a low rumble start in her throat as he struggled in her hold.

“My name is Reid. I’m sixteen. Shit, can you back up a bit, or he’s going to kill me.”

“Oh, hell no, puppy. He’s far too head over heels to commit murder tonight. Only I wouldn’t push it any more, little one. This time I’ll deal with your rudeness. Next time, I’ll tell Damien. The time after that I tell Tyler. Do you understand?”

Reid nodded frantically and she let him pull away without letting him go.

“I still feel like dancing, Reid. Finish the song.”

“Yes, Lupina.” Reid’s voice was soft and respectful now. Jessi smiled over his shoulder at Tyler who stood and moved toward them. As the song finished Reid handed her carefully to Tyler and then fled back toward teenagers.

“Troubles?” Tyler’s arms surrounded her as the music dropped to a slow pace that let him mold her against him. Warmth flowed around them and Jessi relaxed against him.

“No troubles. Just acting like a puppy. I think the pack is wonderful, Tyler, even your little brother. Hell, he must keep you on your toes.”

“Enough about them, you must be tired. It’s time to go home, but first we have something we have to do.” He pulled her even closer and nibbled softly on her ear. Jessi felt the heat start to rise in her body again and her energy level increased, even after all the activity of the day.

“What are you doing, Tyler? Everyone can see.” She didn’t pull away though; it felt wonderful.
He stopped dancing completely, and kissed her, holding her head in place as he nipped and then gently opened her mouth to flick his tongue past her teeth. She wanted to increase the pressure but he pulled back disappointingly quickly, whispering in her ear. “Damage control. I’ll kiss you properly in a few minutes.” He stared at her for a minute and then led her back to their table.
