I have to sub-title this post : A Question of Trust? Really.
The feature this week is Jess Dee. Dear, sweet –will not let me get away with ANYthing– Jess.
When I discovered ebooks and Samhain I read her Photo Opportunity and Ask Adam, both fabulous stories– and smiled at having found an excellent author to enjoy.
Then I started writing. By the fall of 2008 I decided to submit for another anthology. I knew my first synopsis had been very poorly done—I had no idea what one should look like. I really wanted to make a good impression on the editor of the call, so I decided the best way for me to learn was to see what a real synopsis looked like.
I know you can find them online. But frankly, to me, without reading both the synopsis AND the story, it wouldn’t mean much. Then A Question of Trust released, and I loved it…again admiring Jess' work. She was a real author. She definitely knew what she was doing. I screwed up my courage and asked if she’d be comfortable letting a newbie see the synopsis for one of her three books. Please.
Can you image the nerve? Oh, how rude!!
But she answered me. Gave me all three synopsis. Offered to look mine over. Gave me fabulous advice not only about the synopsis but as time went by about the story itself. Rocky Mountain Heat releases in three weeks and I owe a great deal to Jess.
Now, ten months later, I’m pleased to count her as one of my dearest friends. A talented writer, critique partner and all round hoot. I’m so happy to feature her this week as a part of International Heat.
Jess lifts up people around her. She gives wholeheartedly, and the encouragement always seems to come at the exact right moment. She cheers, and bitches and swears in Australian, although she doesn’t use dirty words too often. ? She’s too gentle and polite. VBG.
Now I have to tell you a secret. Of everything I’ve read of Jess’ (even the really hot and naughty stuff that no one else has seen) my favorites? You can get them already. They are fabulous stories based on real people. Only Tyler and Steve’s Story are more than erotic romances, they have encouraged me to write what I love, no matter what. They are hot and exciting like all Jess’ work, but they are gritty and real at the same time.
I’ve never been more impressed with an author’s voice. I hope you love them too.
Be sure to enter a comment to be added to the list for a prize from our Australian rep on IH.

Well, darn, Viv.
I wanna say something, but I got this great big lump in my throat.
Can't talk right now…
Aw 🙂
She may swear using Australian terms, but she has a gorgeous South African accent – so she sounds much classier than the rest of us Aussies 😉
Jess, Congrats again! Viv, I love Only Tyler and Steve's Story too! They are my favorites.
LOL, Tez, you are the only person I have ever heard describe the South African accent as classy. But bloody oath, I have mastered the art of swearing in Australian.
Rhonda – I LOVE Steve and Tyler too. 😀

Dani – Aw, thank you. That is so nice to say.
LOL, I'm sure my IH sisters would have a couple of comments to make about me being an incredible person. I can see it now:
Incredibly stupid, incredibly loud and noisy, incredibly outspoken…
(just to name a few.)*Snort*
Afshan, it is wonderful having the support of co-writers. And I have to say – my IH sisters are the best!!!
Aawww, that is such neat story! I am a strong believer in Karma. Jess, that really bodes well for your future!
Sounds more like you are an incredible friend.
Thanx Kytaira.
And I promise, Viv's been just as good a friend to me.
