I wrote this story on a whim, back when Samhain had a call for a Space Opera. It exploded out in under two weeks, and that was with me having to get over the shock of the characters shanghaing me and deciding it wasn't going to be a m/f. Nope, not even an m/f/m. Somewhere — and sometime– I'm going to learn how to direct my characters a little better, but for now all I can say is I'm glad I listened to them. The three of them are a perfect fit.

Melina and Trev were the original couple. I'd been told I needed to get into the action sooner in my stories, so I deliberately tried to step into the midst of the chaos..and it worked. Reunited lovers discovering themselves on opposite sides in a rebellion, and neither can speak honestly without getting someone killed.

Then the second reunion happened. They reach the ship, the Nottingham, and Davis stepped into the picture. I had visions of someone out of ‘Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy', a kind of Zalphod Beeblebrox. Davis had other ideas and before I could put up a stop sign he'd not only kissed Melina senseless, he'd planted a big fat juicy one on Trev as well.

And the temperatures started to soar.

Through it all there's the sharysa. Small furry creatures that breed faster than bunnies and have some fantastic abilities. My tribute to ‘The Trouble with Tribbles' and Star Trek.

I really enjoyed writing this story, and plan to go back and discover what underlying crisis is brewing in the Space Institute Corporation.
