Have you ever noticed how, even when you enjoy something, it changes over time?
Years back, my family started celebrating Christmas in July. It started partly because we dislike driving on wintery Canadian roads during December along with everyone else hurrying to share the holidays. When it became time for our grown children to do the driving, I wasn’t keen on them having to deal with it, either. Plus, when you leave your house to go to Mom and Dad’s for the holidays, that means you’re not creating your own traditions, whatever they might be.
I think that’s why in one of my series, the family very clearly has set guidelines for who gathers when!
But I was speaking of changes. Because what was a great idea has continued, but it doesn’t look the same every year. Twice we met in July and brought Grandma and Grandpa with us to a comfy hotel. Another year we met at a campground, another year we went to Eldest’s home. In 2020, we met in October. We took precautions before gathering so that we could hang out together and truly relax. Chillfest, as we called it, was a huge hit.
This year we’ll be meeting in August, and we still calling it Chillfest—everyone agrees the name is perfect. No matter when we meet, or what we do while together, it’s a celebration and enjoyable to return to over and over again.
Now to books! Because you knew this had to end up there, didn’t you? You see, just like Chillfest has a different feel to it, the Northern Lights Shifters didn’t always look the way they do now. The covers have obviously changed since the first book was published in 2009. The interiors have been slightly adjusted (to fix writing errors, not to adjust storyline.)
In the beginning, the entire series was three smaller series set in the same location, jumping a little through time. When we joined the books together, we got to put them in chronological order. Not huge changes, but ones that fit and make it work better for today.
The stories themselves are still light-hearted paranormal. Not fangs and furry monsters, but lots of puns, lots of banter, and…okay, still possessive Alpha wolves and bears and cats claiming their forever mates.
Because some parts of good things NEVER change!
If you haven’t tried these shorter length HEAs, check them out. If you enjoy AUDIO, there are two sets of collections you can get for a single, low price! I’ve linked that below for you as well.
