Earlier this year I mentioned that as my writing has slowed, I’ve been rediscovering how much I enjoy creating other things. Here’s my quarterly “creation update” for you—little glimpses of the projects that have been filling my time.

Summer creativity always looks a little different than the rest of the year. The long days make it easier to start things, but they also tempt me outside. 

To contrast with summer, I also got to celebrate our annual Christmas in August family event. Chillfest means time together, good meals, and yes, presents. Which leads to some more creativity!

This quarter I’ve been playing with a few things.

Creativity in the summer doesn’t always look like a carefully planned project.

A day at the beach running after the kids can absolutely count—especially if sandcastles are involved. And if you don’t happen to live near a beach, then backyard mud pies and a garden hose definitely qualify as artistic endeavors too.
