Del whirled toward the corner where Blue had pointed. There was a group of twenty- and thirty-year-old guys gathered, gazes roaming the pool as they checked out the shifter women preening in sun loungers or sitting on the deck edge while doing their own not-so-discreet gazing.
Stacy settled beside Cassidy and Steph near the middle of the pool. She watched her boys with one eye and checked out the rest of the pool with the other. That her gaze drifted to Del over and over did not displease him.
The young buck slipping out of the corner did.
Del pushed past Blue and Jace. “Blue, thanks for the help. Jace, you suck. Excuse me.”
“So polite,” Jace snickered. “Go get her, tiger.”
“That’s insulting, calling him a cat,” Blue complained before snickering. “Oh, I get it. Hey, Del. Go get her, meerkat.”
“What the hell? A meerkat’s not a cat,” Jace drawled.
“It’s not?”
The banter faded behind him as Del approached the edge of the pool in front of the ladies at the same moment the other man got there. The temptation to dunk the punk’s head under the water was strong, but it wasn’t the clear message Del’s wolf needed to send.
And the wolf was very clearly in charge right now.
Only one thing would do. Del pushed up on the edge of the pool and rose to his feet, water streaming from his body.
Stacy’s eyes widened as he walked toward her. She slammed a hand over her sister’s eyes. “Del? You forgot your swimsuit.”
Oh, right. He was naked. Whatever.
He didn’t bother to warn off the wet-behind-the-ears youth behind him. He just shifted between one breath and the next and continued to pace toward his future mate. One delicate jump, and he was on the end of her lounger.
He turned in a circle and settled, resting on her feet, glaring back at the young man who’d dared to approach his woman.
Sebastian held up his hands. “Okay, okay. I had no idea.” He glanced at Stacy then back at Del. “I’ll go over there to the corner. Far away from here. Enjoy your day, ladies. Sorry, Del. Catch you later.”
“Thanks,” Stephanie said, waving him off. She turned to Stacy and Cassidy, then glanced at Del. “That was cute and weird. Del, you really should warn a person before prancing around in your werewolf birthday suit. I thought Stacy was going to pass out.”
“I was trying to—” Stacy sighed heavily and shook her head. “Never mind.”
She dug her hands into his fur.
Del licked her nose.
