My inspiration for the Heart Falls world started with wanting to write more cowboys. And as I’ve written more, I’ve come to realize it’s easier to write in trilogies or quartets. As much as I love a dozen books in a series, there’s a part of the logistics of that you can imagine the tangle of work to keep timelines, characters, and the names of the dogs straight.
So I decided that I would start a new setting—Heart Falls—and make life simple. I’d write a trilogy (The Stones of Heart Falls) Then another trilogy (The Colemans of Heart Falls.)
Great, right? Oh, but I ALSO want to write a holiday series (Holidays in Heart Falls). Five books, published a year apart? But that’s okay, I can slip them in between the trilogies. Oh, and then there are a few short stories that I simply must share. And that first trilogy, well, there are two more siblings—I guess it needs to become a quintet…
Welcome to the not as easy as it was supposed to be world of Heart Falls!!
And while the Stones of Heart Falls are now a five book series, mixed in with twelve other titles…that’s what I think was supposed to happen in the first place. Because good intentions aside, I’ve enjoyed writing the books that called to me.
I’m glad I can share them with you.
