There are some tropes that are truly fantastical. I might love them because they're sort of impossible, but I WISH they were real. But more, I think it's because the parts I love the most are the bits that I think ARE real when it comes to forever-true-happily-evers.

Some people are meant to be together.

That doesn't mean the journey will always be easy, but when I'm reading a fated mates story, it doesn't matter how terrible things look, I know it's going to be okay in the end.

Fated mates stories are like the unbreakable rule for romance— it MUST have a HEA or HFN–but twice over. Because not only is a happily-ever-after guaranteed because I'm reading a romance, but the fated mate part of it double-dog-dares anything or anyone to stop them from reaching that place of forever love.

And in this day of not always easy to reach happiness, I love some fated mates.

I loved writing this one. It's a fun visit to Scotland, but also deals with the question of what happens when a shifter's supposed fated mate is no longer alive.

Also, really cool specific to Scotland shifters. 😀 You need to try it.

Bears of Grizzly Ridge Series by Elena Aitken

I gobbled up this entire series. It's a sweet, hot quartet of books with bear shifters and not too tangled plots. I enjoyed every HEA as they happened, even though I knew they were coming.

There's something wonderful about big, burly guys who have NO idea, being taken out by mating instinct and a woman with a sweet smile.

Infiltrating Her Mate by Kylie Marcus

This is a short, insta-love story that hit just right for a quick, hot read. Also has some mystery and a very kick-ass heroine.

Black Hat Bureau series by Hailey Edwards

Here's a slow burn, Urban Fantasy series where the main protagonist is a demon of a man (a man with a demon? A man who IS a demon?) who's “fascinated” by her.

I.e., a lovely twist on fated mates.

We know how it's going to end, but it's been a lot of fun reading so far as they figure it out, and solve mysteries, and deal with magic and lots of family baggage.

An overall excellent series by an author who I've read just about everything she's written.
