The Wolfie World Tour continues today at Larissa’s Bookish Life. All the way to Brazil, people!
And here at the blog, say hello to R.G. Alexander who writes a wide variety of genres (a gal after my own heart!) including the delightful Shifting Reality series about, yup– a reality show with shifters and etc. Love it! Wish I'd thought of it!
I love what she's got to share with us:
My favorite thing about writing a paranormal series…how can I possibly pick one thing? I've always been a sucker for what ifs, for magic. I've always believed in faeries and the creatures that go bump in the night. I love building worlds and mythologies, and I cannot help but write series, because I'm always dying to find out more. I need to know what happens to everyone (I'm nosy that way).
But most of all, I love the characters. I've said this before, that I think paranormal heroes in particular are the most challenging, and fulfilling, to write. A vampire who has lived forever and seen it all believing in love? A bored cat shifter outing the Other community on a video blog because he is sick of hiding what he is? A demon putting another being's feelings above his own desires? Everything is intensified. Their flaws. Their gifts. And, if the heroine is lucky, their love. I suppose an easier thing for me to answer would be, what don't I love about writing a paranormal series? Nada. Zip. Nothing. *grin*
MY SHIFTER SHOWMANCE: Book 1, Shifting Reality
A Shifter, A Vampire and A Demon walk into a bar…
Thomas Lyons is your average cat shifter. Cool, seductive…and bored out of his mind. With the new popularity of all things paranormal, he doesn’t see why he should hide anymore. When his half-demon technophile roommate hooks him up with a computer, Thomas starts a blog announcing to the world who and what he is. Oddly enough, the more he shares, the less he’s believed. In fact, people begin thinking it’s a new online series with fantastic effects.
Margo Sheffield doesn’t dance on tables anymore, not since her reckless naïveté cost her so much. These days, her only guilty pleasures are dark chocolate, shoes—and a certain website with a man whose purring voice sends shivers down her spine. When the show, Shifting Reality, offers a week in a haunted Scottish castle with the stars, it seems a far-off dream. But when that dream becomes reality, her boss’s insistence that she mix business with pleasure—or else—is more like a nightmare.
Thomas’s focus on the show is blown by the luscious, camera-shy handful. And Margo can barely think about contracts when she’s surrounded by newlywed ghost hunters, a matchmaking demon and a man whose addictive touch makes her head spin. A showmance is the last thing she needs, but with a sexy cat like Thomas on the prowl…she just can’t resist.

The ‘Rock of Love’ …. I mean the first one was ok … I guess. But if he couldn’t find love in the first one, is there really a need for a second (or more)?? And that pretty much goes for any of those “love” shows that are out now, if you can’t find love once on TV then step back and give someone else a try, instead of just playing the field over and over.
Easy answer is they should never have started ANY of them! I’ve tried to watch some now and again but switched off the tv to watch some paint dry as it was more interesting 🙂
Any of them! LOL! Not a big fan of reality shows at all 🙂

Fear Factor, I thought that show was a bit much. Don’t really understand the appeal of most of them.
Jersey Shore! LOL Yeah, I watched it out of curiosity, especially since there was so much protest about it even before it aired. But I quickly became bored with the show. I’m not interested in seeing “young folks” getting drunk and fighting almost every night!
Sixteen and pregnant I mean realy ???
flanagan@mebtel.net
I don’t watch TV but you can’t help hearing about reality shows. So I’d probably say Jersey Shore or 16 and Pregnant.
Love R.G. Alexander’s books too!
I enjoy a few of the reality shows, but I do not care for the ones that follow people around and watch them be dumb… I prefer the competition shows.
Since I don’t watch TV very much and even when I do it never is any of the reality shows, I would have to say that they should of never have started ANY of them. Reality shows really don’t seem that interesting to me (maybe it is just me) but I don’t like those type of shows.
There are wwwwwaaaaayyyyyy too many that should never have started! The one that sticks out the most is The Bachelor/Bachelorette. There’s no way you can form a lasting relationship in that kind of environment. People aren’t who they appear with the cameras present and with so little time devoted to the individuals you don’t discover their real personalities.
As others have said, there are a TON that should never have seen the light of day! I’d vote for the Bachelor and any spinoffs–it’s completely ludicrous to expect that any meaningful connections can happen under such unrealistic conditions. And I also dislike shows that give people a chance to exploit their kids/families for fame–even Jon and Kate Plus Eight wasn’t a good thing!
Pretty much all of them. They all have negative elements. I don’t get the appeal of all those Housewives shows or the ones with rich party girls.
OMG… All of them!!! But if I could can at least one it would be The Bachelor/Bachelorette. Laughable and sad.
Thanks for the giveaway!

I probably have to say the Jersey Shore. I got bored with it quickly.
Thanks for the giveaway!
I’m with a few of the other commenters and think that none of the reality shows should have been started in the first place. They’re just ridiculous and I can’t stand them. Some of the worst offenders have already been mentioned (16 and Pregnant, Jersey Shore, Bachelor/Bachelorette) but they all just need to disappear.
Hi, I actually like some of the reality shows. I like some of the game reality shows and I enjoy 16 and pregnant. I know alot of others didn’t but I know of ALOT of girls that see what the teens go through and stay safe by not having relations. I have 3 teen girls and non of them are really into dating, etc… they like boys but would rather go out with a group of friends the “other stuff” is just to intense. But as with everything there is the ying/yang of everything.
I hate the love shows, they drive me insane. Especially the ones on VH1 and Batchlor/Batchlorette.

Any of those reality shows on MTV and VH1 like the Rock of Love, so lame the lot of them.
NONE of them. I agree with the others who share the opinion that they are all ridiculous.
Thanks for the chance to win.

LOL I’d have to say all of them too, but if I had to pick one it would be Toddlers & Tiaras. I want to vomit every time I see an article or commercial about it. LOL
I love the books of R.G she is one awesome author, and I adore her books.
I don’t think they should have started the Hollywood Wives series and any & all that have come after it. I could care less about any reality show anymore as they have gone overboard. why anyone wants to look into the lives of anyone who have their lives in the media 24/7 I don’t know. It holds no interest to me at all.
Thank you for the contest and tour!

I remember when Survivor was first introduced and it really set of a storm of reality shows to follow. I wouldn’t say all reality shows are bad, many are actually quite entertaining and well-produced. I love The Amazing Race! However there are some that just makes me cringe and The Real Housewives is one of them.
They shouldn’t have started Jersey Shore. It’s just so over the top and melodramatic.

I do watch a few reality show. One they never should have made is Bachelor Pad.(I think thats the name) its on ABC.I saw a commercial for it and just rolled my eyes.
I would say Jersey Shore too because I found it kind of annoying…
chibipooh(at)gmail(dot)com
The show where the woman “dated” a bunch of different guys and then had to guess which ones were gay and which were straight. It was vomit inducing!

The teen pregnancy one really bothered me but think some good things came from it too. The one that drives me bonkers though is Jersey Shore my niece thinks Snookie is cool WTF hell no!
RG this is one of my fav books by you 😉 I love this series xoxo thanks for the giveaway.
Ugh, that one about the kids, pagents I think, Something like Toddler’s and Tiara’s and that Dance Mom one too. But then I could name so many. lisagk(at)yahoo(dot)com
As far as I am concerned, I would have been fine without any of them starting. What little tv I watch is either sitcoms or dramas.

Jersey Shore. I live in Jersey and now everyone thinks we are like them. Hell no.
usignolc(at)yahooDOTcom
I’d have to agree with a lot of the shows listed here. I can’t stand Big Brother, Survivor, Toddlers & Tiaras, Billy The Exterminator, Hill Billy Hand Fishing, any of the Teen Mom shows, Fear Factor, and I am not a fan of those paranormal hunter/ghost shows. I do have some terrible guilty pleasure shows that I watch though, lol.
Jersey Shores comes to mind!
All of them! Can’t abide reality shows!
Jersey Shore. I have only seen it once because nothing else was on TV. UGH!
Not a fan of the reality shows, and the one I really can’t stand is the one that kind of started it all – Survivor. Give me a show like Castle or Bones any day.
Jersey Shores, I’ve never seen it and I donna want to.
Zina
I would say Jersey Shore.
I don’t have cable so I haven’t seen any of the recent shows but I always thought The Bachelor was pretty stupid. Considering the track record of the couples, clearly it doesn’t work.

I do not watch much tv so I am not really familiar with much reality tv but Toddlers and Tiaras seems pretty creepy.
