Cool new books-

Before I started writing I wasn't aware that Tuesday was release day in the publishing industry. Now I have a double reason to long for Tuesday to roll around. My books, yes, but also ones that I've been waiting for, like today with TWO books featuring ‘Heart' in them. Very different books, but very similar in one way. Both written by spectacular authors.

The second in Meljean Brook's amazing steampunk genre Iron Seas series is now available: HEART of Steel. And Lauren Dane begins a new (NEW!) paranormal series in HEART of Darkness.

And I have signed print books to give away! ** happy dances** I saw Meljean this past weekend while I was in Seattle at the Emerald City conference, and I forced her to sign a copy for me. And Lauren also has a copy that has been touched by her talented fingers. 😀 If you're like me and collecting both ebooks and print (Bad us! Go us!) you can buy an ebook today to gobble up and still enter to win. Not that I'm a book pusher or anything. **acts innocent**

SL500 AA278 PIkin4,BottomRight, 46,22 AA300 SH20 OU01As the mercenary captain of the Lady Corsair, Yasmeen has learned to keep her heart as cold as steel, her only loyalty bound to her ship and her crew. So when a man who once tried to seize her airship returns from the dead, Yasmeen will be damned if she gives him another opportunity to take control.

Treasure-hunter Archimedes Fox isn't interested in the Lady Corsair — he wants her coldhearted captain and the valuable da Vinci sketch she stole from him. To reclaim it, Archimedes is determined to seduce the stubborn woman who once tossed him to a ravenous pack of zombies, but she's no easy conquest.
When da Vinci's sketch attracts a dangerous amount of attention, Yasmeen and Archimedes journey to Horde-occupied Morocco — and straight into their enemy's hands. But as they fight to save themselves and a city on the brink of rebellion, the greatest peril Yasmeen faces is from the man who seeks to melt her icy heart…

51g0oNsBDVL. SL500 AA278 PIkin4,BottomRight, 52,22 AA300 SH20 OU01From national bestselling author Lauren Dane comes a white-hot new series of a dangerous family legacy, and sensual paranormal passions played to the death on the knife-edge of darkness…

Meriel Owen, next in line to control the largest organization of witches in the country, is asked to investigate the owner of a notorious club reportedly siphoning magic from the font of the Clan. It's a direct violation of the Clan Code of Conduct, but one look at Dominic Bright and Meriel's willing to make a deal. One taste of the sexually feral outlaw witch, and she's eager to go further: he's her bond mate, a legal conduit into the world of Clan witches and their magic.

Playing by the rules isn't Dominic's style, but bonding with Meriel–night after explosive night–is. However, Meriel has unwittingly invited someone else into her world: Dominic's mother, a dangerous and poisonously influential magic addict whose lust for death and power corrupts all she touches. Now her shadow is closing in on Meriel, her Clan, and the man Meriel loves, and it's casting them all into the inescapable heart of darkness.

To enter to win, since these are both HEART books, or <3 books, tell me in the comments if you have a favorite ‘shorthand' or text message ‘code' that you tend to use a lot. Like smilies, or LOL or whatever. Or do you ever mix up or wonder what some of the shorthand means? I swear I can't see the letters BFF and get it right. My brain automatically says ‘Best Fucking Friend'…which isn't exactly right.

I'll pick two winners from all the comments next Monday. Oh, you should mention in your comments if you have a preference for either book, or wouldn't mind winning either.

I actually don’t use much shorthand–either to text or to email–but usually have little trouble deciphering them.

The one that defeated me–and prompted me to use an acronym finder online–was BMOC. Go figure, right?

Oh choices… *crossing eyes and pointing to list on desk* Heart of Steel for me, please

I don’t typically use shorthand much …. but what I do type a lot is:

LOL
=0)
=0(
=0/
*hahaa*
*wink*

I don’t know why but I just like to give my smiley faces big noses.

I know the basics when it comes shorthand, but these days the letters seem to be getting more complex and it always seems like everyone else knows what it means except me:(

I definitely wouldn’t mind winning either of these fabulous books:) Both books sound sooo good… thanks for the awesome giveaway!!!

I’ve been using a smilie for years before they became popular I used to always draw a smilely face on things. So now the 🙂 is my shorthand version. Find I’m using the 😉 winky one a lot too.

I was at the movie’s the other day and there were some teenagers there. At a point where we all laughed on teen actually said lol instead of laughing. I was stunned

Would be happy to win either book as unable as yet to purchase the Kindle books (geo-restricted).

I come from a background working in contracts so I HATE shorthand! There is too much room for confusion. I do sometimes use LOL or 🙂 because they have crossed over into common use. I recently found a line of products with the Periodic Table of Texting (http://fashionablygeek.com/t-shirts/periodic-table-of-texting/). I thought it was so funny, I am giving items with the table as gifts! Thanks for the AMAZING giveaway! I want both books so bad. I am going to cross my fingers and toes and maybe my eyes because I want them so bad. jepebATverizonDOTnet

I tend to use LOL and 🙂 and 😀 a lot. I have to admit that my teenaged nieces loose me with all the things they use. I generally end up having to look things up.
I am so glad I am not the only person who buys ebooks and print. I have to admit that I often will buy a copy to read, even if I have an autographed copy if it is a fave author of mine.
I would love to read the Lauren Dane book. Thanks so much for the chance.

I use some shorthand-not a lot, but I do use LOLAL, BTW, IMHO, IMO, and PITA a lot, along with IJS. I absolutely LOVE signed books, although I don’t have a single print book by my favorite author (yet).I have one large cabinet that is at least half signed books. I’d love to have Heart of Darkness.

First— I use O_O all the time…got it from my teens. LOL Otherwise my favorite thing is *snort* I’m not big on the actual shorthand except LOL or WTF. Oh, and I’m horrible at mixing up the other shorthand stuff.

You wouldn’t believe it but I’m JUST reading The Iron Duke right now on my kindle. Damn is it good. Seriously hot, and then there’s all that cool steampunk stuff. I had read two short stories in that world but hadn’t gotten the book til this week. So, I’d LOVE to win Heart of Steel.

I’m a total smiley girl 😀 To the point that I now use them as punctuation (bad girl, I know). I’ve also fallen in love with the asterisks to emphasize. *Sigh* I’d like to note a preference for Heart of Steel as I won a copy of Heart of Darkness already this week 😀

It’s so cheesy but I still use “haz” for stuff I love. “I can haz those studded boots at Rack Room?” “I can haz Jason Momoa?”

So….”I can haz Heart of Steel?” Iron Duke is my favorite steampunk ever and I still haven’t finished the damned thing.

I don’t like BFF – I think BF is fine – my BF has been my BF for 30+ years so the extra F is…extra. And I never liked DH (dear husband) or DD or DS – too syrupy. I do like IYKWIMAITYD.

I tend to use lol a lot plus 🙂 but I don’t really use other shorthand. I get confused to easily about what they all mean & am sure I’d end up coming out with something complety stupid!

Thanks for holding a fab giveaway. I’d have to say that Hearts of Steel would be my first choice but Hearts of Darkness looks pretty awesome too so I’d be happy to win either 🙂
