New release today from Samhain with a DRAGON shifter. Yes, you got that right. I love dragons, and since I'm too busy to work on my own dragon story right now, that means I get to enjoy other's. Like Thea Harrison's the Elder Races (Dragon Bound) and this book.
I'll let the blurb for LEGACY speak for itself, but I will tell you I've had fun chatting with Denise on twitter and emailing with her. It's one of those treats of the writing word that I'm both a writer AND a reader.
When Fate makes you her bitch, accept it and adapt. Or die.
The Niteclif Evolutions, Book 1Looking back on the wish she made on Midsummer’s Eve, Maddy Niteclif should have been more specific. She only wanted to escape the shadowy nightmares that plagued her nights, not to be thrust into a completely altered reality.
If a strangely familiar, sexy dragon-shifter named Bahlin, who causes a never-to-be-mentioned-again fainting spell, isn’t enough to make her question her sanity, his insistence she’s the Niteclif ought to do the job. Prophesied super-sleuth of the supernatural world—a world that desperately needs her help—isn’t a job she’s remotely qualified for no matter what her family tree says.
Catapulted into a very different London ruled by dark mythology, mystery and murder, Maddy makes a few startling discoveries. Paranormal creatures exist. Getting shot really sucks. And her body responds remarkably well to dragon magic—in more ways than simple wound healing.
But in this kill-or-be-killed world, reality bites. And Maddy must choose to go back to what she knows…or stay and fight for the man she knows she can’t live without.
Product Warnings
This book contains a shape-shifting dragon with a Scottish accent, modern and archaic weapons, global inter-species politics that make democracy seem mild, some very steamy sex underground, a severed head, murder, and…oh yeah…a woman caught in the middle of it all.
I enjoyed this story, and I know books 2 and 3 are in the works as well. Instead of giving away copies of the book, I'm gonna be tricky. See, this is Denise's first release at Samhain, and I know how thrilling it is to see your book hit the top ten list there, or to see on Amazon or Barnes & Noble that people are buying your book!
Ahem, so, yes, it's geeky, but it's true. There's no thrill like it, and the thrill never goes away, not even after your first book. But ESPECIALLY for your first book. SO here's the giveaway for this week. I've got a $10 gift certificate that I'm going to give out next Monday—good for the bookstore of your choice. (Samhain, Amazon, B&N, All Romance Ebooks…etc. If I can give you a gift certificate, you can pick the store.)
In the mean time, if you're into sexy dragons and cool world building, I'd encourage you to check out LEGACY and buy it now. On sale at Samhain for $3.85! It slices, it dices…it…okay, you get the idea.
Now excuse me, I have a sexy dragon to try to take away from Maddy…

Yes, I’ve read Dragon books before…I’ve been reading “Dragonfire” books by Deborah Cooke and also “The Elder Races” by Thea Harrison. Both are excellent dragon shifter series!
I will forever love Pern. You always remember your first dragons, right? LOL. The Elder Races are on my ‘little’ TBR but I absolutely adore G.A. Aiken’s Dragons Kin Series. It’s a riot.
I read the Harper Hall books first. Imagine how excited I was to find the rest of the series!
Vivian, you are killing me! My TBR pile is a mountain, and you all keep showing me new books and authors that sound fabulous! Can we get 8 days in a week?
And yes I love dragon shifters! Thea’s Dragonbound was awesome. Love the Dragon Kin series by GA Aiken and the Asling Grey series by Katie MacAllister!
Heheh. Sorry?
I read a lot of fantasy and there are often dragons in stories like that, but the Elder Races series by Thea Harrison are the first I read where the dragon is a lead character.
Hi Vivian! I love dragons! GA Aiken writes a great dragon series one of my favorites! And as you mentioned, Thea Harrison’s book rocked!
Oh my goodness! A shapeshifting dragon with a scottish accent!! 😀 I am adding this book to my list…
as for reading dragons, yes I have by Deborah Cooke… love dragons! 😀
Legacy sounds great. I love dragonshifters. I have read some dragon books: Thea Harrison’s Dragon Bound and Deborah Cooke’s Dragonfire series. Thanks for the great giveaway.

This sounds like a great book.
Other dragons books are the Dragon Kin series by GA Aiken. And I have Thea Harrison’s Dragon Bound on my TBR pile.
I love Thea’s series. Have them all. Just went and purchased this to. Can you tell I love the dragons lol
I have! Gena Showalter’s Heart of the Dragon is so, so, so fantastic! Guh! I loved every second I was reading 🙂
Thank you for pointing out this new book! It sounds terrific!
You’re welcome. I hope you enjoy it.
I really enjoyed Thea’s books, but my favorite dragon shifter series is G.A. Aiken’s. I’ve read all of them, and they are funny and sexy plus the heroines kick ass. I love that she has male and female dragons:)
I haven’t read the Thea Harrison series but it is in my TBR pile. I can’t think of any dragon series I have read but I have read some with dragon characters like Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Dark Hunter series. Unless you count Eragon. I didn’t really like it and I have read anything else in the series.

(shhh…that’s a KID’S book. This one is all grown up…)
😉
Deborah Cooke’s dragon series continues to be one of my favorites. It doesn’t hurt that one was set in my home state of Minnesota.
I also have the G.A. Aiken books, but they are buried in my TBR. I’ll need to move them up.
I love dragons. My desktop picture at home, work and on my nook is a dragon. It’s almost embarrassing 🙂 The Pern series shares a lot of blame for that along with Patricia Wrede’s Enchanted Forest series. I also love G.A. Aiken’s series and enjoyed Allyson James’s Dragon series.
I can honestly say that I have probably read every dragon or dragon shifter book out there. I am even writing one, though it is driving me mad right now. There is a three foot poster of a dragon in battle over my desk at work, the skins on my kindle and laptop are dragons…need I go on? Thank you for bringing to my attention yet another series I must be picking up-I already have all of Bianca D’Arc’s Dragon Knights books, all the G.A. Aiken books, Jane Toombs’ dragon series, The Dragon Kin series from Changeling Press, and Sierra Dafoe’s six book Dragon Heir set.
My first dragon book was Dragon Actually by G.A. Aiken in her Dragon Kin series, and I fell in love with them right away! Her writing is also uber hilarious!
Like you my first dragon book (outside of fairy tales as a child) was Anne McCaffrey’s Pern dragons. After that I moved on to Mercedes Lackey’s Joust and as many Dragon stories as I could get my hands on.
I am especially lucky that my husband loves dragons too, although this means our house is over run by every kind of dragon imaginable. However I can still find more room for extra dragon shifter books and will be adding this one to my collection as soon as possible 😀
I usually love Dragon-shifter novels!! Ones I’ve read before are: ‘Dragon Bound’ by Thea Harrison, ‘Voices of Dragons’ by Carrie Vaughn, and ‘Immortal Danger’ by Cynthia Eden!!
Hi !
The first book with dragons I really remember, as a teen, was also the first one from Anne McCaffrey, “Dragonflight” (in french “Le Vol du Dragon”). I borrowed it at the public library, and it was one of the thickest I read at this time.
I was hooked forever on Pern stories, to such an extend that I bought them all (or almost all…) many years after, and that really was the beginning of my love for fantasy !
Thanks for the title “Legacy” (and the author) you let me know, I bought it and I’m reading it currently. Love it, I’ll certainly bought the next ones !
Glad you’re enjoying it!
I love dragons. I’ve read Dragon Bound, GA Aiken’s dragon series, Allyson James’ Dragon Masters series, and a kind of melancholy but good self-pubbed book by Edie Ramer called Dragon Blues. I recently saw an interview with Denise and immediately added her book to my wishlist.
