The challenge today is to Give someone else a break.
This is an easy one to do for people with small children. Watching someone else’s kids for a couple hours to allow them to have kid free time to shop can be a huge huge help. But everyone can use a little hand once in a while. When you head to the post office, are there packages you could take for a neighbor? If you live in an area that has snow on the ground, can you shovel one more section of sidewalk for someone you know?
It’s opening up our eyes to see what’s actually happening around us that’s the challenge, especially when our to-do list and shopping list seems overloaded already. One small thing can make a big difference in another person’s life.
Give it a shot–make someone’s day!
I’ve got a 1o$ iTunes gift card for one person to take their own break after the holidays. Add any comment today to be entered to win. And make sure you’ve placed your name on the first of the 12 Days with your suggestion of charity.

This one is going to be difficult I have an infection in my lungs and I’m not allowed out of the house. I could do the children’s chores or maybe even hubby’s chores?
I’m watching my friend’s kids so that she and her husband can have time together now that our classes are done for the semester.
I offered to work 4 hours on a day I’m usually off work so a colleague could have that day off instead.
I’m watching my nieces son today. She is sick and needed the help.
I am cleaning my dad’s house to get it ready for Christmas.
lol I work at the Post Office and today i took my grandma’s Christmas cards with me to work to mail out. She’s in a nursing home and last night i went through and fixed a few cards she didn’t have zip codes on etc. She thought i was messing them up then thought i was maybe running off with them when i tried to take them with me. She’s 90! Got them mailed out though so we’re good.

I have a few things I do already. I help a friend weekly and pick up his medications because he can’t drive, I have a single mom that lives next door, so to them out when I can – I give the kid cash to take my trash out. help me bring groceries (when I have a lot..)
We lost a couple of people at my day job, actually three, one retired and the other two are just…gone. I’ve taken on most of the case load from the retired one, so that the people don’t have to be put off until a new person is hired and trained. No one told me how much I would really enjoy a new set of duties, but there it is…I am really enjoying helping the folks who are less fortunate. Yeah a few of her ‘long time’ clients decided they didn’t want a new ‘counselor’ but overall it is working out.
I don’t really know anyone around this area to help. My downstairs neighbor did forget her son was at our house (playing with my son) and went to Walmart without him. lol She called in a panic and I told her not to worry about it. She finished with her shopping and then came home. 🙂 She has 3 kids and said she usually forgets the oldest one not the youngest. lol

I took a shift for a friend at work so she could take her daughter to a Christmas Party. They had a lot of fun.
We’re hosting Christmas at our house this year to keep my Mom from working herself into exhaustion.
Such a good reminder, Vivian! Last week I made a huge batch of chili and shared it with a couple friends so they wouldn’t have to make dinner that night. And occasionally they’ll return the favor–there are so many times when we’re thankful for even one fewer thing on the to-do list 🙂
